BRIEF RANT ON ENDLESS EIGHT

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)

Introduction

I am not going to pretend that everybody on the Internet does not already know about Endless Eight. Even people who have zero interest in Haruhi Suzumiya have heard of the arc. So forgive me, but this rant will proceed assuming that you already know what I am going to talk about.

The first season of Haruhi Suzumiya was pretty good. Being a zoomer who was not that far away from a fetus when it originally aired, I did not experience the initial wave of Haruhism that was common on online message boards and forums, even leaking into real life at events such as AnimeExpo. And you know what? More power to them! I imagine Haruhi was probably the biggest anime to be close to mainstream popularity before Attack on Titan aired.
