WHAT I WATCHED IN WINTER 2026
Ah, new year, same problems. After fighting for my life in the previous semester and having basically no time at all to watch anime, here I am again; trapped in yet another semester of pain and suffering. Though this time, I don't actually find myself wanting to watch anime that much. Weird...
Oh, wait, maybe it's because I've finally gained the slightest semblance of taste? Honestly, there aren't a lot of shows that really appeal to me anymore. This season is definitely one of the weakest for me.
A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans
It's monster girl high school! What more could you ask for?
Yeah, so this teacher isn't much of a misanthrope. All that ended up being was him starting the show with "I hate humanity πΏπΏπΏ" and proceeding to not act like it at all. But whatever, I'm used to premises being completely forgotten after the first 10 minutes. I used to be a huge isekai fan, after all!
But so far the character moments with each girl are nice. It's a little weak and each girl is kind of just a generic archetype, but their conflicts and struggles are done well and make me feel like rooting for them.
Blue Orchestra S2
So this is still continuing from the first season...
It's not bad. So far there's been the whole conflict with the concert and how nobody wanted to speak up, they did the Christmas choir shit as a light-hearted break, and now it's back to serious mode with Aono and the others joining the Japan national youth orchestra or whatever it is.
HOLY SHIT THE ANIMATION IS SO FUCKING BAD SOMETIMES!!!! I swear they used AI for the mouth movements during the choir practice one of the episodes! It actually looked so terrible...
Unfortunately best girl Kozakura getting shafted to make room for the Akine comeback sweep π₯π₯π₯π₯
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End S2
PEAK IS BACK BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
After an incredible first season, the best fantasy to grace anime in a very, very long time has returned! But only 10 episodes is just criminal; what the hell can even happen in this season? Not much, apparently. But I am honestly fine with that.
Frieren has never needed to be a bombastic, action-packed romp to get my attention. Not to say the action isn't incredible in its own right, but everything besides that is also fine. For example the Fern x Stark moments in this season are sweet as fuckkkkk
Journal with Witch
This is the reason why I still give this cursed medium a chance.
hey im not finished yet come back later...
